Award Winning Care

The Spaulding Rehabilitation Network uses an interdisciplinary team approach throughout its facilities. Each member of the care team, from case managers, therapists and nurses to physicians, work together to develop a customized treatment program to meet the goals of the individual patient.

The care teams of Spaulding Rehabilitation Network have received national recognition for their patient programs, services and processes. All facilities are accredited by the Joint Commission, and have achieved additional recognition by surveyors for model programs and services. Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital has consistently been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as among the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country, ranking #7 in 2008.

Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital has been recognized by the National Association of Long Term Hospitals (NALTH) with a quality award for reducing infection rates because of improved patient care processes.

Our skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) of the network have all achieved deficiency-free surveys from the Department of Public Health in 2008. The SNFs have also each achieved quality recognition from The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The Shaughnessy-Kaplan TCU and The North End Rehabilitation and Nursing Center have both achieved Step 1 Quality Awards, with The Boston Center and The Clark House having achieved the notable distinction of a Step 2 award.

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital has also been honored as one of only a handful of hospitals nationwide authorized by the U.S. Military to treat returning soldiers injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Spaulding was the first hospital in New England to successfully treat and discharge a soldier to home and continues to care for soldiers today. Spaulding clinicians and case managers have also begun knowledge-sharing programs to support the military as it expands rehabilitation services for veterans.
